Admissions Policy and Application Procedure
Students at Forest, Millais and Tanbridge House schools
If you attend one of the three Horsham partner schools you will be eligible for entry to Collyer's. At interview college staff will give you advice on appropriate subjects and levels of study. We also look for a recommendation from your current school and discuss the course entry requirements.
The application procedure you will follow is laid out below.
1) October/November 2011. Collyer's staff give talks in the local schools and give you a prospectus.
2) November 2011: Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th. Collyer's Open Evenings, 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm. Come and see the college and talk to staff and students. Parents are warmly invited to attend.
3) January 2012. You will complete an application form. This will be given to you by a member of staff at your school.
4) February/March 2012. Collyer's staff see you individually at your school to discuss your application (parents are invited to attend). You will receive a written offer of a place if the college's provision matches your requirements and potential GCSE grades.
5) July 2012: Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd (provisional). Collyer's Welcome Days. The Welcome Day will allow you to meet your tutor, ‘taste’ your subject options, plan your subject choice and be given details of the arrangements for the start of term.
All Other Students
This includes students who live and/or attend school outside the Horsham area, those who have already taken A levels, adult students (day time), those from European Union countries and those under 16 years of age.
If you are in any of these categories you should write to or telephone the Admissions Manager for a prospectus and application form on 01403 210822.
Applications should be made between November 2011 and April 2012. We will always try to respond to applications after that date, but for applications received after the end of April we cannot guarantee a place being offered, it will be subject to availability.
All students and their parents are invited to attend one of the college’s Open Evenings on November 9th or 10th 2011, 6.30 to 9.00 pm.
Students who live in the Horsham area (but attend school elsewhere) are eligible for entry to Collyer's so long as they are recommended by their present school and meet the entry requirements for the subjects they wish to take.
Students from outside the Horsham area will usually be accepted for entry, subject to available places, if they are recommended by their present school and meet the entry requirements for starting an appropriate course.
You will be invited for interview during the spring or summer term, when you will receive a written offer of a place if the college's provision matches your requirements and potential GCSE grades. At Collyer's Welcome Day you will meet your tutor, learn more about the courses offered, plan your subject choice and be given details of the arrangements for the start of term.
Students who have already taken A levels will be considered on their merits. Entry to particular subjects will depend on the availability of places. Please contact the Admissions Manager for details.
Adult Students
Applications are invited from adult students who wish to pursue an academic course during the day. Adults are taught alongside full-time students and participate in the full range of activities such as practical work and field work. Prospective students are interviewed in the summer term and formally enrolled in September.
Collyer's offers a wide range of Adult Education Courses. For details of courses available please see the Adult Learning link on this website or contact the Adult Learning Department on 01403 216597.
Overseas Students
Applications are invited from full-time students from non-European Union countries for both one and two year courses. Applicants will be interviewed before acceptance on to a course and particular reference will be taken of qualifications gained in their own countries and their competence in English.
