COLLYER’S STUDENTS ENJOY THE GLAMOUR OF THE RED CARPET
The fourth annual Collywood Film and Television Awards Ceremony was certainly last week’s “hot ticket” in Horsham, as a packed house at The Capital Arts Centre celebrated the achievements of Media and Film Studies students from The College of Richard Collyer.
Jonathan Nunns, Subject Leader for Media Studies was delighted with another hugely successful night: "I am really proud of the achievements of our students. This is a brilliant show case for their work and I am astonished and delighted, that every year, they manage to raise the bar for the quality of the work produced".
On an emotional and highly charged evening, the Best Picture was won by Tom Long, Stefan Myskow, Jordan Day and Tariq Bhatti for their production of "Made Man". Best Cinematography went to the "Going Gone" crew of Gail Betts, Luke Elder, Sam Markham and Jess Langhan. Best Editing, for "Through Jealous Eyes", was awarded to Aidan Chase, Adam Goddard, Luke Clarke and David Veitch. Multi-talented Aiden Chase then incredibly doubled up with prize for Best TV performance; while hotly tipped Judy Lin won Best Actress.
Katie Arthur, Natalie Hallam, Conor Allen and Alex Smith were ecstatic to walk away with Best AS Film Genre for "Forensic Evidence Dept", while Technical Achievement in TV went to Fran Stephens, Josh Purdy, Katie Heath and Tom Barker for "What's Your Flavour". "Music Club" hit the right note with judges and won Best AS Music Video, delighting its crew of Angela Barrett, Jess Browne, Ria McCormick and Tom Parsons. The much anticipated People's Choice award, voted for by the Collyer’s public, was won by Chris Bennett, Sam Packham, Luke Macgregor and Jacob Dunn for "Welcome Home". Finally, best AS TV prize went to Cara Tappenden, Fran Baker, Constance Crowhurst and Dani Lindfield for "Last Orders".
Successful Film Screenwriter and governor, Simon Van Der Borgh, commented: "The work was of an exceptionally high standard. Many of the students clearly have the potential to succeed in the highly competitive film and TV industries".
Collyer’s Principal, Dr Jackie Johnston was full of praise for all involved: "Thanks must go to the hard work of the Media and Film team who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to put on another first class event. The Capital Arts Centre is a fantastic red-carpet venue and they have once again been magnificent in their support of local talent".
Mark Ramey, Subject Leader for Film added: "Given the high quality work we’ve seen tonight, I’m sure the sell-out audience will have noted down a few names to watch out for in the future!"
