Collyer’s students reigned supreme at the Business Scene Challenge 2010, organised by West Sussex County Council last week.  Collyer’s took on rival colleges from across the region in a bid to promote their home town as a prime location for business.  Each college delivered a convincing pitch to a team of industry experts, marketing their town as the number one location for business enterprise.

The Collyer’s team, “Find and Seek Location Services”, clocked up points for: originality; effective marketing and clearly communicating Horsham’s unique qualities as a centre of business excellence. The team comprised Sophia Pellatt, James Seear, Christopher Bryant, Heather Morton, Emma Brown and Natalie Menzies.

Team Leader James Seear, who has just finished his first year at Collyer’s, was delighted: “It was a brilliant day, enabling us to transfer the skills we have been taught in our business studies classes to a real world situation.  It was great to see how other colleges approached the task.  We know Horsham is a great place and couldn’t wait to pitch our ideas.  To win the challenge was the icing on the cake.”

Kirsty Young, who teaches Business Studies at Collyer’s, was proud of her students: “We’ve got a talented bunch and I’m so pleased that they met their potential in this tough competition. Their presentation was particularly well planned and professional. It was obvious to the judging panel that these young people are incredibly proud of Horsham.”
