Gifted student Oliver Wilks has won the 12 to 18 Years category of the Young British Wildlife Photography Awards for his photograph: “Red Fox Yawning After His Afternoon Nap”, photographed last year at Warnham Local Nature Reserve.
Oliver was thrilled with the astonishing national press interest: “I’ve been mentioned on the BBC News, Sky News and Heart Radio; as well as in The Times and The Express, The Sun, The Telegraph, The Guardian and the Metro.”
Oliver, who is 16, won £500 for his superb shot. He explained: “I think the autumnal lighting compliments the red of the fox, giving great warmth and depth to the image.”
Laura Andrews, Subject Leader for Photography at Collyer’s, was delighted: “The photograph is excellent! Congratulations to Oliver! What a fantastic achievement!”
