Students toe-to-toe with world's top dance choreographer
Lucky Collyer’s students caught up with one of the biggest names in dance last week. Serena McCreight, Krisha Sachania, Vikki Mead, Kate Geddes and Xanthe Wilson were thrilled to meet five-time Olivier Award winner Mathew Bourne and took the opportunity to talk dance with one of the world’s leading choreographers.
Andrea Martin, Subject Leader for Dance, was delighted to meet a personal hero: “It was thrilling for us to meet a genuine dance superstar. Mathew Bourne’s male Swan Lake features in the film Billy Elliot and he is widely regarded as the most commercially successful contemporary dance choreographer of all time”.
The students, who are studying Mathew Bourne’s work as part of their AS Dance course, met him at the New Wimbledon Theatre, after enjoying his brilliant production of Cinderella. Mathew then kindly took time out to answer questions from the students.
Andrea Martin added: “It was a great show and to meet Mathew Bourne face-to-face was a hugely inspiring experience for the Collyer’s students.”
