Last week Collyer’s were delighted to welcome a group of Spanish students and teachers, who were visiting the college as part of a student exchange programme. The students attend top Spanish school Instituto Cristobal Lozano in Hellin, close to Alicante on the east coast of Spain.
The group started its week in the UK with a visit to Horsham District Council’s Chamber, as part of the students’ education to find out about how local government works in different countries. The Chairman of the Council, Cllr Claire Vickers welcomed the group and led a special presentation ceremony.
Cllr Claire Vickers said: “It was a real pleasure to meet with the students. They
were very enthusiastic to find out more about what the Council does, as well as about everything that’s going on around the District.”
Ms Margarita Mortimer, Head of Spanish Studies at Collyer’s said: “We are always delighted to welcome our Spanish exchange students because it’s such a good opportunity for them to experience life in England as well as practise their language skills. The Students and their families have been very accommodating and visiting Horsham Council and being welcomed by the Chairman have been a real experience for all of us.”
Irene Fernandez, accompanying teacher for the Spanish students, added: “We would like to thank the Council and Collyer’s for welcoming us so warmly. We have been coming to Horsham for seven years now and it’s always been a real pleasure.”
The students continued their educational week with visits to the Horsham Museum, Brighton and the Houses of Parliament, as well as spending time with local students and their families.
