About the course
This one-year part-time course is specifically designed for mature students who wish to gain a qualification that allows them to progress to university to study a degree related to Nursing, Health Professions or Social Care.
You will study modules in Biology, Health, Psychology and Study Skills. You will also complete an Independent Academic Study on an area directly relevant to your chosen degree. We will provide support for your UCAS application.
You should be aged 19+ and looking for an alternative route into University.
You should have Maths and English at a GCSE grade C/4 or above, or the Level 2 equivalent. If you do not hold these qualifications, we can offer a “Pre-Access” year, route giving you the chance to gain these qualifications.
If you hold Functional Skills qualifications, please check that the universities you wish to apply to will accept these prior to joining the course.
Assessment is via coursework and practical and timed assessments.
This course allows you to progress on to a Foundation Degree or Nursing/Midwifery degree, providing you meet other university entry criteria.

Students are required to attend a College induction prior to the course start date.
Students aged 19-23 years who are studying for their first Level 3 qualification may qualify for a government subsidy meaning that the course is fully funded.
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19+. These are repayable when you finish your course and earn more than £25,000 per annum. Loans are written off for Access students who progress to university and complete a degree.
There is a £150 deposit payable at the point of booking. This is non-refundable.
