About the course

We run Maths Functional Skills courses at Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

These courses help to develop effective practical mathematics skills which will be useful in work and life.

Subjects covered include:

  • Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Fractions,
  • Decimals
  • Percentages
  • Money
  • Time
  • Common Measures
  • Shapes
  • Handling information and data

 

You should expect to complete 2 hours of online work or homework per week in addition to class attendance and exam revision.

Entry Requirements

There are no prior entry requirements for these courses. You will sit a diagnostic assessment as part of the application process for this course. This will allow us to identify which is the appropriate level of course for you.

Assessment

There are two assessments for these courses: a calculator paper and a non-calculator paper.  Exams at Entry Level 3 are paper based; exams at Level 1 and Level 2 are online.

Equipment

Please bring a notebook and pen to lessons.  You will need to have access to a device such as a laptop or iPad to access virtual lessons and online teaching materials.

Delivery

These courses are delivered via blended learning. This means that your course will include a mixture of classroom and remote live lessons along with online learning materials, that you will work through in your own time.

Progression

Learners may progress on to the next level Functional Skills course or GCSE Maths.

Please email adulted@collyers.ac.uk. or call us on 01403 216597. We will discuss your requirements and arrange for you to sit a diagnostic assessment to look at level you are currently working at. You may sit your assessment at home or we can arrange for you to come into College.

Induction

Students are required to attend a College induction.

Fees

This course is fully funded by the Government UK residents/those with settled status who have lived in the UK for the last 3 years and who do not already have an equivalent qualification.
