About the course

This is an introductory teaching qualification for learners who are new to teaching and training.  It is aimed at those wishing to teach in the post-16 students, for example, in Adult Education, Further Education, industry, the voluntary sector or public service.

This is knowledge-based qualification that covers preparing, planning, delivering basic teaching and learning sessions. Units covered include:

Roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Understanding and using inclusive approaches
Understanding assessment

Entry requirements

You should have GCSE/Level 2 English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
You should hold a Level 3 qualification or higher in your area of expertise.

Assessment

The Award is internally assessed. The overall grade is a pass, based upon successful completion of the units, a portfolio and practical teaching experience.

Equipment

Please bring paper, pen, file dividers and punched pockets

Progression

Students with teaching hours in place can progress on to the Diploma in Education and Training.

Induction
