About the course
This qualification is aimed at those with experience working in roles that support teaching and learning in schools. The course provides an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school environments.

Supporting children’s learning
Health and safety
Schools as organisations
Assessment for learning
Learners should be volunteering or working in a school for a minimum of 8 hours a week over 2 days. The application form for this course will need to be signed off by your school’s Headteacher. We will review your application and assess whether you will be working at Level 3 before confirming your place on the course.
Students who do not hold English and Maths GCSEs at C/4 Grade or Functional Skills Level 2 will be invited to sit a diagnostic assessment to ensure that they are working at the required level.
Assessment is via written tasks, professional discussions with the tutor and workplace assessment. You should expect to complete a minimum of 3 hours of homework per week in addition to class attendance.
Please bring paper, pen, file dividers and punched pockets.

Students are required to attend a College induction prior to the course start date.
Students aged 19-23 years who are studying for their first Level 3 qualification may qualify for a government subsidy meaning that the course is fully funded.
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19+. These are repayable when you finish your course and earn more than £25,000 per annum.
