About the course
The Level 2 Certificate is an initial qualification in counselling skills, which can provide a progression route to becoming a qualified counsellor. It enhances and improves written communication skills, promotes personal growth and provides basic industry knowledge.
Modules studied included:
- Counselling skills and personal development
- Using counselling skills
- Introduction to Counselling skills theories
- Diversity and ethics in the use of Counselling Skills
Students should have previously attended an Introduction to Counselling, either at Collyer’s or elsewhere and have a Certificate of Participation.
Assessment is via written work, a reflective journal, and practical skills assessments. Work is submitted and assessed via an electronic portfolio, which demonstrates how you have met the assessment criteria for the course.
You should expect to complete at least 3 hours of homework per week in addition to class attendance.
Learners will attend weekly lessons in college. This course may incorporate an element of live remote lessons where appropriate. It is recommended that you have access to a PC, laptop or other suitable device.
Learners also benefit from access to the college library during our evening opening times, including computers, study stations, print-based and electronic learning materials, printers and scanners.
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills (subject to interview to assess suitability)
Students must attend a college induction on the first evening of the course.
This course is co-funded by the Government, meaning that all qualifying students benefit from reduced fees. Our advertised fees take this funding into account.
A £50 non-refundable deposit is payable at the point of booking and the remainder of the course fees are due one week before the course start.
This course may be free to learners if they are:
- Earning less than £20319 p.a.
- 19-23 without a first full Level 2 qualification
Prior to enrolling on any qualification course, please consider carefully if you have the time to commit to this course.
If you start a course and do not complete it, or if your attendance rate is low, this might affect your eligibility to join funded courses in the future.
