As students at Collyer’s begin to understand their strengths, a range of different aspirations will arise during their time at the College. Collyer’s supports these aspirations in a number of ways: • Higher Education evenings to assist with UCAS applications for students and their parents in April • Mock Interviews (Higher Education and employment) and Mock Assessment Days (employment) • Not Going to Uni (NG2U) event for students and parents in March with representatives from major employers, and graduates who themselves elected to go directly into employment • Programme of Higher Education enrichment activities throughout the year (including visits from university representatives and visits to UCAS events) • Higher Education and Employability areas in the Library • Online software license for a career’s questionnaire (Fast Tomato) to assist students in finding a career to aim for • Careers VLE with resources on employment • Challenge of Management event in July each year, where students work on Employability challenges alongside business experts • CV Builder and Employability Skills Record for students to record their employability skills • Subject areas offer additional careers advice and guest speakers • For those who are not sure of their next steps, we also have an Employability Co-ordinator to assist with entry to employment • Employability course (optional for second year students). 30 PREPARING FOR LIFE AFTER COLLYER’S
