It’s a great pleasure to contribute the first blog post to the new OCA website, newly relaunched with the kind support of the College as we enter our centenary year as an association.
This blog, and the wider website, will be updated regularly with news, details of upcoming events, and opportunities to network and connect with other members of the Old Collyerians’ community. These updates will come from the President and Committee but also from the wider membership and will provide a welcome window on the achievements of different generations of OCs, as well as an opportunity to consider where our collective pool of experience and expertise might be of benefit in supporting the students and more recent alumni of Collyer’s today.
Our centenary as the OCA is the first of a number of significant anniversaries for Collyer’s, including marking 50 years since the transition to sixth-form college status in 2026 and the five hundredth anniversary of the very foundation of Collyer’s in 2032. As these significant anniversaries hove into view, we are delighted to be playing our ongoing part in connecting former Collyers’ pupils and taking forward our commitment to support the ongoing excellence and success of Collyer’s today.
I would encourage you to visit the website regularly and would warmly invite you to contact us with your own news, memories and Collyer’s stories. As you’ll see from some of the initial site content, at present we are particularly seeking material on Collyer’s drama, music and sports through the years. We’d be very pleased to hear from you on these and other topics.
