Foundation courses Business BTEC First Level 2 (Pearson) This one year Level 2 course offers the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding related to the world of business, as a preparation for employment, or progression to Advanced Level Business and further education. The areas covered range from business administration, financial planning, the roles of people within organisations, development of online activities and the key pressures businesses face. Students will be predominately assessed via coursework and two exams covering Finance and Marketing. Specific entry requirements Average GCSE Grade of 3 English GCSE (AQA) All students who have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language will need to enrol on this course. You will join a friendly and supportive team who have the reputation of delivering outstanding results. Assessment will involve analysing a variety of literary and non-fiction texts in preparation for two exams: Paper 1: Explorations in Creative Reading and Writing, and Paper 2: Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives. If you have previously followed the AQA GCSE English Language syllabus (first examined in June 2017) there may be an opportunity to retake in November. Specific entry requirements Grade 3 or below in English Language Health and Social Care BTEC First Level 2 (Pearson) This new award looks into all areas of the health and social sector in the UK, covering topics as diverse as legislation, health promotion, nutrition, human biology, mental health and care of different population groups. Suitable for students who may want to progress directly into the workplace or go onto the Level 3 award to enable access to university. Students who study this award will probably be aiming to become carers, nurses, midwives, teachers, social workers, and many other roles in the NHS, as well as complimentary therapists and specialists in additional needs care. Specific entry requirements Average GCSE Grade of 3 Information Technology BTEC First Level 2 (Pearson) This one year course, has been designed to provide students with an introduction to how information systems work and how to use software applications to meet realistic user needs. Students will learn a range of practical ICT skills, for example; The Online World; Website Development and create a Digital Portfolio. BTEC Firsts provide work-related qualifications, giving learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment or to progress to a Level 3 programme.
