About the course

Our creative writing course will help you discover your writing voice and potential. You’ll explore key techniques of creative writing and put them into practice through group and individual exercises.

You will focus on finding inspiration and making a start; writing what you know, story development and planning; overcoming writer’s block; developing your powers of observation and avoiding common mistakes.

The courses are informal, collaborative and productive.

This course will help you to discover and develop your writing skills, leading to an opportunity to focus on a piece of work in depth

Delivery

Learners will attend weekly lessons in college. This course may incorporate an element of live remote lessons where appropriate. It is recommended that you have access to a PC, laptop or other suitable device.

Adult education students are given limited access to the library at Collyer’s. The library is available term-time only between 4.30pm and 6pm Monday to Thursdays and from 4.30pm until 5pm on Fridays. The library facilities include computers, study stations, print-based and electronic learning materials, printers and scanners.

There is also a special study room set aside for adult education students on the second floor of the library. Please ask a member of library staff to give you admittance.

Fees

A deposit of £50 is due at the point of booking to secure a place on the course. The balance of the course fee is due one week before the start of the course. Students can apply upon booking to pay the balance in instalments. Course fees are the same for all students – there are no concessions available.  The course fee is due at the point of booking to secure a place on the course.
