About the course

The aim of this recreational course is to develop basic communication skills in practical situations for beginners who intend to use the language on holiday or for work. The emphasis will be on developing your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The structure of the language is introduced through everyday topics and practical situations.

More specifically, the course will cover the following topics:

  • Introduce yourself and other people
  • Discover the French speaking world (describe places)
  • Shopping (make a list, talk about things you need to buy)
  • Introduce and describe someone
  • Talk about your daily life
  • Order in a restaurant
  • Talk about your job
  • Describe the place where you live and give directions

Delivery

Learners will attend weekly lessons in college. This course may incorporate an element of live remote lessons where appropriate. It is recommended that you have access to a PC, laptop or other suitable device.

Learners also benefit from access to the college library during our evening opening times, including computers, study stations, print-based and electronic learning materials, printers and scanners.

Course Suitability

No previous experience is necessary, just an interest in the French language and culture.

Fees

A deposit of £50 is due at the point of booking to secure a place on the course. The balance of the course fee is due one week before the start of the course.

Course fees are the same for all students – there are no concessions available.
