About the course

This short, non-qualification, course introduces basic skills counselling skills and understanding. The course aims to provide learning in effective communication and understanding others as well as ourselves. It is suitable for anyone working in a front-line capacity as well as those with a general interest in the subject.

 

Topics covered by this course include:

  • Personal development
  • Basic concepts of counselling
  • Core conditions
  • Counselling techniques
  • Confrontation techniques

 

The course adopts creative methods of learning and will focus on group interaction and 1 to 1 role play. By the end of the programme attendees will have a deeper understanding of themselves and how they relate to others and will have covered the basic skills to progress within the field of Counselling.

At the end of the course, you will be offered a 1 to 1 informal review to discuss your progress.

There are no formal entry requirements

Delivery

Learners will attend weekly lessons in college. This course may incorporate an element of live remote lessons where appropriate. It is recommended that you have access to a PC, laptop or other suitable device.

Learners also benefit from access to the college library during our evening opening times, including computers, study stations, print-based and electronic learning materials, printers and scanners.

Progression

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

Fees

The full fee of £150 is due at the point of booking to secure a place on the course. Course fees are the same for all students – there are no concessions available.
