A Level student snaps up top photography prize
Talented student Oliver Wilks has won a top photography prize. His photograph of a fox in snow impressed judges at the Sharrow Photography Competition. Oliver’s shot came first in the School/College Section, which is open to anyone under the age of 18 around the world.
Oliver commented: “I got a phone call from the organisers to say I had come first in the School/College Section, which I am really pleased with. This means I have won £75 for me and £100 for the college. I hope this money helps the photography department.”
The Sharrow Photography Competition is run by the Parochial Church Council (trustees) international charity at St John’s Church, Sharrow, near Ripon in North Yorkshire. Attracting entrants from around
the world, the competition has been running since 2006.
Kevin Fitzpatrick, Subject Leader for Photography at Collyer’s, was delighted: “Oli is a talented photographer and thoroughly deserves this award. I think his winning photograph is excellent! The £100 for the department is a fantastic gesture and much appreciated by his teachers”.
