News Collyer’s Comeback Win ‘Stunning’ 09.12.2025

Collyer’s 1s came back from 35-44 down at half-time to secure a memorable 64-62 victory over Reigate College in the Surrey League.

With several players missing from last week’s famous win away at Peter Symonds Winchester, Collyer’s weathered intense first half pressure from a quality Reigate team, before upping the tempo in the second half to dominate for long passages of play.

Co-captain Alexis Park-Griffiths said: “At half-time it was a case of now or never. We made a few tactical changes and exerted continual pressure across the court. To complete a comeback at this level was a fantastic achievement for the group. It was a difficult match against a very strong team.”

Collyer’s coach Michelle Peckham was delighted: “With a few players out injured, the full squad had to step up. It was incredibly nerve wracking towards the end, but wonderful to get the win over the line. I could not be prouder of this group!”

Deputy Principal Steve Martell added: “This Collyer’s comeback was stunning. A thriller. Coach Peckham and the team are a class act.”

At the end of the game Reigate awarded their player of the match to Collyer’s Alexis Park-Griffiths.

John Burroughs, Head of the Collyer’s Sports Academy said: “This team are a credit to our Sports Academy, and one of the reasons we are now attracting top athletes from across the region.”
