News BBC Producer Back At Collyer’s 19.12.2025
Andy Boateng visited Collyer’s Media Hub to deliver a hugely motivational careers talk. Andy spoke about his journey from Collyer’s film student to his role working as a Producer for the BBC. The students enjoyed hearing about Andy’s unique journey after leaving the college and enriching students with valuable knowledge regarding the potential pathways they could take to enter the film industry.
Since leaving Collyer’s over ten years ago, Andy has been actively working in TV production. During his time in the industry, he has worked with a BAFTA award winning team and has been part of many successful projects such as the 2017 film ‘Bonded by Blood 2’.
Andy instilled students with confidence and determination, demonstrating that they too can be a part of worldwide companies like the BBC if they actively seek opportunities and stay determined regardless of any obstacles they may face.
Student Jacob Jennings left the talk feeling encouraged: ‘It really inspired me to try and put myself out there more, allowing me to try and find links in the industry for my future.’
Media student Luce Warner felt inspired: ‘I like how he highlighted the variety of jobs that there are available in the television industry. It really opened my eyes to how many options there are in the industry.”
At the end of the talk, Andy kindly took time out to answer all the students’ questions about the television industry.
Head of BTEC Creative Digital Media Production Rebecca Moon was thrilled: “Having alumni like Andy is priceless. The group could really identify with his journey from Collyer’s into industry and were able to ask probing questions to help them make the crucial decisions for their next career steps.
“Enormous thanks to Andy for taking time out from his busy schedule to generously help the next generation.”
