News Upbeat Performance From Students 02.07.2026

First year Collyer’s Music Practitioners students set up and performed at their first gig this year, without the support of second year students. First year Performing Pathway students chose this year’s ‘00s upbeat music theme, refining their performance style and image while finessing their overall music skills and interaction with the audience.

Music Practitioners teacher Daniel Page said: ’Second year students are invaluable to helping the first years learn the live performance etiquette needed for outstanding performances and ability to troubleshoot if technical issues present occur. Watching the first years learn from this and then go onto set up and perform at a high level is an absolute joy. Well done Practitioners students!’”

First year Technology Pathway students liaised with the bands to ensure they were able to accommodate all band line-ups with a comprehensive professional PA set up. They ran sound checks, did live sound engineering and recorded all of the bands to later mix.

Collyer’s Deputy Principal Steve Martell said: “These artists staged a wonderful show, they’ve certainly set a high bar for next year.”
