Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing

About the course

The aim of this qualification is to develop knowledge of skills so learners can engage, facilitate, educate and support clients in a gym or health club environment. Modules include:

Anatomy and physiology for exercise and fitness instructors
Providing a positive customer experience in the exercise environment
Lifestyle management and health awareness
Gym-based programme planning and preparation
Gym-based programme delivery and professional instruction

Entry requirements

No prior experience is needed, but any experience in a fitness-based environment is beneficial. Revision on the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems and muscle names is useful prior to the course start.

Assessment

Assessment is via a mixture of practical assessments, theory assessments, online workbooks and case studies.

Equipment

Gym clothes, water, pens and paper.

Progression

On completion of this qualification learners will be able to seek employment and perform competently as a Level 2 Gym Instructor.

Learners can also progress to the L3 Personal Trainer course

Induction

Students must attend a College induction prior to the course start date.

Fees

This course is co-funded by the Government meaning that all students benefit from reduced fees.

Full funding may be available for learners who are unemployed, are employed and earn less than £16,009.50 per annum or who are aged 19-23 and don’t hold a first full Level 2 qualification. See our fees and funding guidance or contact us to find out more
