News Business Students Step Up To Disco Challenge 30.05.2026

A group of second year Collyer’s BTEC Business students recently organised and managed a school disco for year 7 pupils at the Bohunt School in Horsham. The event was a key part of  their Event Management Module. Braydon Charlton, Ethan Jacques and Adomas Kurlinkus managed to post a profit of £507.65, which was donated to CAMHS(Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services).

Their teacher, Mark Porter, was delighted: “When we stated this unit, I wanted learners to develop their skills in a way that would be useful and meaningful towards whatever pathway they were taking after college. These students took that fully onboard and were committed, driven and professional.”

Braydon, Ethan and Adomas met regularly with Bohunt staff and jumped through all of the legal and regularity hoops required to put on an event in a school environment.

Mark added: “Their whole approach from the offset was pretty impressive. They talked to pupils in a school assembly to promote the event and even arranged an ice cream van for the night. Massive Congratulations to the group – they were a great team!”

Andrea John, Collyer’s Vice Principal (Pastoral), was very up-beat about the business project: “The school disco event was beautifully choreographed by these talented business students. Colossal thanks to them, and to Mark Porter for his excellent support throughout.”
