News Collyer’s Welcome Waste Experts 31.03.2026

Collyer’s kicked-off Green Week by welcoming experts from West Sussex County Council, who came in to advise staff and students about the new waste collection plan in West Sussex.

Dr Ian Carr, Collyer’s Sustainability Co-ordinator and Assistant Director of the Science Faculty, explained: “Karen Dock was in the café explaining to students why the new scheme was being introduced and took time out to answer any questions. Former Collyer’s staff member Caroline Holder was in the community staff area providing a similar advice service for staff.”

The new system features less frequent collection of household waste in council provided wheelie bins, with weekly food waste collections in new caddies and bins.

Dr Carr added: “Karen and Caroline were able to explain the benefits of the new scheme and answer any concerns that students and staff had and also point interested parties towards contacts who could answer specific detailed queries.”
