News Green Week Blossoms At Collyer’s 04.04.2026
As part of Green Week, Collyer’s welcomed Claire Potter and Elle Runton, who gave a joint presentation to second year Environmental Science students about the circular economy and sustainability.
Dr Ian Carr, Collyer’s Sustainability Co-ordinator, and Deputy Director of the Science Faculty, explained: “This is the third year we’ve managed to secure Claire and Elle to give a presentation on this area, which is a key part of the Environmental Science course.”
The session was kicked off by Claire Potter, course leader of Product Design at Sussex University, who gave a fantastic overview of how design was an essential aspect to ensure all new products are part of the circular economy. She gave specific examples of products, from skateboards to coffee pods, that were involved in the circular economy and also showed how discarded fishing gear could be involved in circularity.
Dr Carr added: “Claire’s presentation was excellent, and after lunch Elle Runton gave a perfect introduction to the theory of the circular economy that hit the course content brilliantly . She pointed the students towards great resources and used examples from her own career to bring the subject to life.
“We are hugely grateful to Claire and Elle. Their sessions were inspiring.”
