News Pitch Perfect! 28.12.2025

Founder and CEO of ‘Viv Loves Film’ Emma Topping, and creator of the short film ‘Jamie and the Vampires’ Patrick Franklin returned to Collyer’s to refine second year students’ pitching skills in preparation for their final exam in January. Students were able to practice their persuasive abilities and ask any questions they had regarding how to pitch effectively.

Since the release of their exam brief earlier in the week, students have been working to equip themselves for their exams in January. From planning structure to researching, students have been gathering all necessary resources to perform their best. Invited to the College’s Media Hub by Head of BTEC Media, Rebecca Moon, Emma and Patrick kindly gave students an opportunity to practice pitching professionally, and took time out to give valuable feedback on how to improve.

Keen BTEC Media student Jemima Robinson shared: ‘We were able to get such good insight on the qualities that make a good pitch – it was so helpful, and Emma and Patrick were so sweet!’

Emma and Patrick were also happy to give advice regarding how to efficiently structure a pitch, come up with snappy loglines and use compelling language to captivate an audience. After this enriching session, students have deepened their confidence in pitching – distinction grades are hopefully incoming!

Rebecca Moon, Head of BTEC Media was extremely pleased: ‘We are so privileged to be able to have industry professionals come into college. The benefits to the students are beyond what we could construct, such as creating a real-life pitching experience which the group enjoyed today.

“We would like to thank Viv Loves Film and theses experts for their continued support in education and bridging the gap to industry.’
