News Students Engineer Trip to House of Lords 03.01.2023

Collyer’s BTEC Engineering students recently visited the House of Lords by invitation of Professor the Lord Mair.

In the Cholmondeley Room, the students attended the All Party Parliamentry Engineering Group debate on ‘Engineering for the Food Industry’.

Collyer’s Head of Subject for BTEC Engineering, Amarjit Chana, organised the visit. He explained: “Engineering students Oskar Bolin-Schmitt, Susannah Dixon, Tom Moore, and I visited the House of Lords for a debate on food production and the role of engineering. It was a fascinating experience, and we are hugely grateful to Professor the Lord Mair for his invite, and to Thales UK Limited, based in Crawley, who kindly sponsored our trip.

“It was an enjoyable day and Oskar, Susannah and Tom acquitted themselves wonderfully. They were a credit to Collyer’s.”

Collyer’s Deputy Principal Steve Martell was delighted. He said: “Colossal thanks to Professor the Lord Mair, the All-Party Parliamentary Engineering Group, Amarjit Chana and Thales UK for making this superb educational opportunity possible.”
