News Students See The Real Madrid 24.03.2026
Collyer’s students taking Spanish A level have just returned from a four day educational visit to Madrid.
Milagros Herguedas, Collyer’s Head of Spanish, explained: “These trips are vital for the students studying the course as they can sample and enjoy real Spanish culture first-hand.
“The group enjoyed learning about street art in the Lavapies neighbourhood and had a chance to customise t-shirts using the stencil technique. We also visited the Prado museum where the students could see art pieces relevant to topics we cover on the course.”
The highlight for many was the tour the iconic Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid Football Club, while others picked out the live flamenco show performed by very talented “bailaores” and “cantaores”.
Milagros added: “We also took time out for sightseeing of monuments and buildings, such as Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral. And of course the group also massively enjoyed sampling the exquisite local cuisine!”
Collyer’s Deputy Principal Steve Martell said: “Huge thanks to Milagros and all involved for creating this wonderful educational experience for our students in Madrid. It really was the real deal. Can I come next year?!”
