A Legacy Donation – the gift that keeps giving

As we approach our Quincentenary we have started to receive a growing number of enquiries from our Old Collyerians about how they can leave us a gift in their will. A hugely important part of the education landscape for so many local residents and for such a long time has resulted in a large number of our ex-students keen to give back. They want to show their gratitude for what Collyer’s helped them achieve at the same time as helping the younger generations achieve in the same way. A gift that continues to benefit others way beyond their own lifetime – a gift that truly keeps on giving.

The Quincentenary Fund

We are currently raising money for The Quincentenary Fund, a giving fund created to raise £5million by our 500th anniversary in 2032. The money we raise, along with grants and other forms of funding, will be used on our biggest campus redevelopment project seen in a generation – The Masterplan. Why leave a legacy to Collyer’s?

Leaving a legacy to Collyer’s means you will be supporting The Quincentenary Fund and ultimately The Masterplan. Therefore, you are helping to ensure that students in the state-funded education system have access to state-of-the art facilities and resources, enabling them to go way beyond just realising their potential.

Your legacy will have a positive impact on the community. The Masterplan redevelopment project will allow Collyer’s to expand, creating jobs and boosting the local economy. By donating to the fund, you are contributing to the growth and development of your local area.

A gift to charity in your will is tax exempt and, dependent on its size, can have tax benefits across the rest of your estate. We recommend you seek independent advice on this matter however, a charitable gift to Collyer’s may also have advantages for other beneficiaries of your will.

We consider legacy gifts to be a very personal and very special type of donation. We would like the opportunity to discuss with you options around recognition of your generosity. A redevelopment project like The Masterplan being the ultimate beneficiary of your kind legacy donation, presents a range of potential ways we could look to recognise your generosity.
