Dr Stephen Fay, Admissions Tutor and Spanish Lecturer at the University of Surrey recently talked to Collyer’s Modern Foreign Languages’ (MFL) A-level students about their options and combinations if considering continuing with MFL at university after leaving the Horsham Sixth Form College.

Milagros Herguedas, Collyer’s Head of Spanish, said: “As well as hearing about how the students will get to organise their year abroad, whether studying or working in industry, the group also had a chance to see how well our old Collyerian’s are doing at the University of Surrey.

Collyer’s French teacher, Stéphanie Le Palec, said: “It was a great opportunity for our students to find out about the choices available to them after Collyer’s. They were truly inspired about their next steps in studying MFL.”

Monika Watson, Collyer’s Head of French said: “I was so impressed with the opportunities for students that I would consider doing a language degree at the University of Surrey myself!”

Jade Goncalves Do Carmo, who is taking A level Spanish at Collyer’s said: “This talk has made me think of combinations that I was not aware of, but still within what I want to do in the future.”

Rob Hussey, Collyer’s Vice Principal (Curriculum) said: “Massive thanks to Milagros, Monika, Stephanie, Stephen and the wonderful team at the University of Surrey, for creating this inspiring MFL progression event.”
